Principal Architect

Rick Gonzalez, AIA

President & Founder

President of the firm and in charge of design and marketing, Rick Gonzalez is involved in pursuing new jobs, preparing proposals, conceptualizing designs and providing design input through project’s development.Rick is also involved in the presentation of all REG projects to the public, in other words, planning and zoning, commissioners, citizens groups.

After a design phase is completed Rick remains involved in reviewing the progress of the construction documents, progress of bidding and permitting and visiting job sites during construction for compliance with design intent. Completing his office duties include reviewing and providing management assistance with Colin and Karen with the daily office operations of the firm.

Personal Approach

REG Architects, Inc. offers the key personnel approach to assist Government or Non-Profits achieve their design project goals. We will work with City staff and all City consultants to deliver a high quality environment. REG is capable of completing this assignment as we’ve done on previous continuing contract municipal projects because of our comprehensive team approach to project delivery. 

Organization

Our office is organized into three departments supervised by three managing principals that are involved from inception to completion of each project at REG. Weekly meetings are held on all projects to review outstanding issues and plan the staff work accordingly.

Colin Price

Vice President of Operations

Vice President of Operations is in charge of managing REG staff and consultants together with input to REG’s day to day office operations. Colin also provides input to initial stages of a project to make sure schedules and project procedures are being implemented. His involvement continues with additional input in the construction documents, bidding and permitting phases with emphasis in conflict resolution (when required) with staff, consultants, clients, building officials and general contractors. His engineering and construction background together with his business acumen are the “glue” between REG’s creative force and a client’s satisfaction with the final built product.

Ricardo Gonzalez, R.A.

Director Emeritus

Ricardo is the Director Emeritus of the firm and with Rick are the founding principals of the firm in 1988. As Director Emeritus, Ricardo shares his multiple talents and knowledge with the three managing principals of the firm and the three department managers. At any given time Ricardo may be involved preparing design renderings; investigating zoning and building code issues; providing details and quality control to construction documents and assists with consultant coordination. Ricardo’s input gives REG projects additional value by providing quality input to all projects with his 50 years of experience.

Vlad Dumitrescu, AIA, LEED AP

Design Manager

Vlad Dumitrescu is the Design Manager. He manages all REG projects through the design phase and then assists the Production Manager and Project Managers in answering any design related issues that may arise during production of construction documents and construction phases. Vlad works very closely with Rick in reviewing a projects program and developing design concepts for each of the firm’s assignments. In those assignments where interiors are included he also collaborates with the Interiors Department. Vlad and the staff in the Design Department meet with Rick several times a week to obtain and coordinate design input from conceptuals through planning and zoning through design development. He also coordinates with the Production and Construction Departments Managers on a weekly basis to assist them with any design issues they may have and when necessary he meets with Colin and Ricardo for additional project specific assistance.

Manuel Ayala, AIA

Senior Project Manager

Manuel is a Senior Project Manager. He works closely with Colin in the preparation and monitoring of all project schedules and the production of construction documents and specifications; including coordination of REG’s and client’s consultants. Manuel meets weekly with the Design and Construction Managers to make sure that projects move along their schedules and are being properly detailed and produced so that the design intent is easily achieved in the construction phase. Besides managing the Production Department staff (where the bulk of the work is produced) Manuel also assists the principals of the firm in maintaining a pleasant work environment so that the staff of REG can complete the work on schedule and in budget.

Christine Merrell, R.A.

Project Manager

Originally from Ohio, Mrs. Merrell is a Florida licensed and registered architect with over 13 years of experience in the design, management, and execution of a wide variety of project types including restaurants, multi-family residential, municipal, community centers and educational buildings. Skilled in Auto Cad, Revit & Photoshop, Christine also assists in Graphic Design for clients for marketing purposes.

Verónica Volani-Inza, ASID

Senior Interior Designer

Mrs. Volani-Inza is a Florida licensed, award winner interior designer with over 20 years of experience in the design field. Her extensive professional experience includes all aspects and phases of design such as: programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents & bidding and construction administration (FF&E). This includes hi-end residential and commercial interior design, material selections, millwork design, color boards, preparation of specifications, customer service, supervision of a team, purchasing and sales/deliveries. Verónica collaborates with Rick & Vlad for design input on her interior design assignments.

Mauricio Garzon

Bookkeeper

Mauricio Garzon’s accounting background includes work in both the architectural and hospitality field. With nearly nine years at REG, Mauricio handles all finances and invoicing as well as account reconciliations and summaries. He also manages payroll and employee benefits.

Darcy Ann Henry

Executive Assistant

Mrs. Henry has been in the field of Architecture for 15 years, twelve of them with REG. She assists the President and Vice President with marketing materials, contract preparation, and office operations. The firm also submits many Requests for Qualifications for local municipalities, counties and other government agencies and she spearheads this process.
